It’s been 43 long years since Dave Evans first joined forces with AC/DC, but he thinks he would have the fans vote to fill the vacancy left due to Brian Johnson’s recent health issues.
Evans has told the Sydney Morning Herald that he is the man for the job: “When I perform around the world the fans love my music and my performances and I hear what they tell me,” the 62-year-old says.
“A lot of people make jokes about going deaf from listening to loud music,” Evans shrugs, then just in case Angus is reading, adds: “It’s never been a problem for me.
“I just thought it was sad news. It’s your lifeblood as a singer, live performances are so personal, without the crowd and the adrenalin it’s going to be hard for him. Performances are the big highs in our lives.”
Evans leaves us in no doubt that AC/DC will continue, stating: “The day Angus retires is the day AC/DC finishes.”
Evans is considered 1000-1 to land the AC/DC job, instead, the band are expected to name someone younger who can deal with the relentless touring schedule. Time will tell, but it sounds like Evans hasn’t given up hope just yet.
Here are some candidates that Angus and co can consider in the coming months…VOTE below and let them know who the fans want to see in AC/DC. You can add your own options as well. Votes for Taylor Swift will not be counted.
Dave Grohl is at a bit of a loose end at the moment, taking time away from the Foo Fighters. Nah, maybe not!
Myles Kennedy certainly has the voice. With Slash back with GNR (for now) the timing is perfect for him to step in. He’s our #1 choice!
Lizzy Hale? Damn Straight!
