Melbourne based singer/songwriter Cherie Laurent has released her powerful new single and music video Down On Me, which was premiered via Scenestr.
“Down On Me is my gift to every human on mother earth that has experienced discrimination and that longs for the voice of freedom, respect, equality and justice. Whoever you are, wherever you are, you deserve equality; let’s stop discrimination and bigotry. Let us stand together and be the voice of equality.”
Cherie Laurent was born in Baghdad during the Iran-Iraq war. She dreamed of peace, hoping for nothing more than to flee a life surrounded by armed conflict.
After surviving years of warfare, Cherie was able to leave the conflict zone and has since lived in Jordan, UAE, New Zealand, Europe, Japan and South East Asia, before eventually settling in Australia. From a young age, Cherie immersed herself in the world of art and creation. She has a background in fashion design, acting, directing and music.
Cherie released her debut single You Are My Desire in 2007 and has since released multiple tracks. She recently entered the studio to record her new single.
