A lot has changed for deathcore outfit Chelsea Grin since their last tour of Australia. Sadly former frontman Alex Koehler had to step down from the band due to medical reasons, but now he has been replaced with Tom Barber from band Lorna Shore. HEAVY Mag decided to have a little get to know you session with Barber before the band heads here for their new tour with Born Of Osiris.
“I have never been to Australia before so I am absolutely excited,” says Barber talking about the tour. “I can’t wait to check out the culture and eat some crazy food and I just want to see what Australia has to offer with all the visual stuff because I have seen so much crazy shit on the internet with sharks and Steve Irwin and stuff. All you really know is what you see on the internet and whatever and I just want to experience it. But I have learnt that there are some fucking giant bugs there and I have learnt that wasn’t Australia found by criminals or something like that? That is fucking bad-ass, dude!”
“Here’s the really crazy thing,” he says laughing when we start to talk about what kinds of restaurants and Australian cuisine there is here. “A lot of people are probably going to be bummed to hear this… but I eat vegan. So a lot of the shit that I know Australia has that is super fresh and it is super-cleaning eating so I am just really excited to see what you have there.”
