Carcass Album Closer To Release

Share This:

British grindgore legends Carcass have signed a deal with an un-disclosed label for their upcoming album Surgical Steel.

Produced by Andy Sneap, it will be their first recording since 1996’s Swansong.

Adding to the excitement for fans who have hoped for a comeback, original drummer Ken Owen who suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 will appear on the album but only as a guest vocalist. Owen has appeared a few times on stage with his former band mates but only for limited short drum solos since his health woes began.

Carcass broke up just before the release of Swansong but then made a comeback to touring in 2008. Since then they have played numerous shows and festivals.

Due to schedule conflicts with their band Arch Enemy, guitarist Michael Ammott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson will not feature on the new album. Ammott has been replaced with guitarist Ben Ash and the new drummer is former Aborted drummer Dan Wilding.

In a recent radio interview with Radio Futuro, lead guitarist Bill Steer had this to say about the upcoming album, “It sounds like CARCASS. Even the drumming sounds like CARCASS. Everything about it… I think it’s gonna shock people, how good it is. I think it’s got all the elements that people like, yet it still sounds fresh.”
