Burning Up With BROTHER FIRETRIBE

Share This:

Finnish melodic hard rockers Brother Firetribe recently released their fifth studio album, Feel The Burn. Vocalist Pekka Heino joined HEAVY from his home country to discuss the album and other happenings within the Brother Firetribe camp.

“When we started talking about the next album after we finished the Sunbound tour for the last album, the first thing we all agreed on was to do something different,” he explained. “We’ve done four albums exactly the same way with me and Tomppa writing all the songs and everybody adds their own parts before we arrange them a bit and record them and mix them and put them out. This time we wanted to do something new, something different, and the first step was to get somebody outside the band to produce the album, which is what we did. We got in touch with a good friend of ours Jimmy Westerlund who plays guitar in One Desire and he is an accomplished producer here in Finland. We knew what kind of sound he does and we knew the fact that he knows Brother Firetribe inside out and likes the same kind of music we do. He’s a great songwriter and a great player so it was very easy to start working with him. That was the first step of making another Brother Firetribe album with a new twist. We also have a new guitarist and that changes things around a lot. The result is exactly what we hoped for. It’s still very much Brother Firetribe but there’s a twist to it.”

In the full interview, Pekka goes into more detail about the new member and what he brings to the band, replacing founding member and guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, an exciting new short movie they are putting the finishing touches on which revolves around the single “Night Rider”, the humorous origins of the band name, have to live in the COVID affected musical landscape and more.
