Bringing The Power Back With ELECTRIC UNIVERSE

Electric Universe are a band that have come a long way in a short space of time.

Since deciding towards the latter part of last year that they wanted their band to reach out on a global scale Electric Universe have produced a sustained marketing campaign, pushing their singles into the rock population in preparation for their upcoming album Timeless which is due for release in May.

Vocalist Shane Davies sat down with HEAVY during the week to discuss the band’s new single “Sometimes” plus more details on the album.

“There’s been no main goal,” Davies said of the band’s sound. “It’s just a mixture of what we’re all into and it just comes out the way it is. We don’t really force the issue any way or make it sound any way. Michael Furness (Mutt), the guy that comes up with the guitar riffs… I guess it depends on what mood he’s in when he’s writing the riff. It could go from hard rock to very very placid. There’s no method to the madness, it’s just a mutation of all our likes.”

When it comes to Electric Universes current assault on the world stage, Davies quickly defers to having the right team around the band and their music.

“We were just plodding along like any other band,” he said, “and some magical thing happened. A guardian angel appeared (laughs) and he decided to like what we were doing and wanted to ehlp out so that enabled us to afford to get a manager and that’s what has moved the band forward is managerial skills.”

In the full interview, Shane gives a bit of history on Electric Universe, talks more about the single and album and the musical direction of each, signing to new label MR Records and what it means for the band, the theme of time that seems to permeate through the album, recording and producing your own music and more.
