Review by Steven Jenkins

Black Tongue have emerged from the darkness to become a band that’s hot on the radar as of late. With their slowed down tempo that creates an aura of heaviness like no other. Down tuned guitars, thunderous drumming and furious vocals make The Unconquerable Dark an unrelenting album of epic proportions.

Having only formed in 2013, these angry young gentlemen from Hull have made an impact not only in Europe but here as well, recently touring alongside our very own Make Them Suffer. Showing off their intensity onstage and winning over a bunch of young heavy music listeners across the country. Standout tracks include Vermintide, which features an earsplitting performance from Eddie Hermida of Suicide Silence.

The gloomy and foreboding opus L’appel du Vide is an explosive journey into their more blackened side with on point hammering blast beats from drummer Aaron Kitcher and malicious and haunting vocals that roar from Alex Teyen. The only negative thing about the album is a tendency for repetitiveness and some lack of creativity to a certain extent. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is one of the heaviest and darkest albums of 2015.
