Birds of a feather stick together: King Parrot added to Soundwave lineup

HEAVY’s own legal eagle has been looking out for her fellow birdmen King Parrot by tweeting (how many bird puns can we possibly get in here?) to AJ Maddah, that the thrash/grind quintet be added to the Soundwave line up.

A campaign started by a group of friends at the Lamb of God/Meshuggah show, including HEAVY executive editor Liv Reppas, Triple M’s Dave ‘Higgo’ Higgins and Amanda Mason, HEAVY’s legal writer, has resulted in the Soundwave owner getting on board the King Parrot train.

Far from just a fan of the band, Amanda Mason contributes to HEAVY Magazine as the official legal writer, giving readers valuable legal tips each issue as part of the Dotted Lines column. “King Parrot are a phenomenal live band and they deserve to be on the Soundwave lineup. Hopefully we’ll see more locals added to the lineup,” said Mason when asked about her Tweet to Maddah.

Slaying audiences all over Australia since their debut album Bite Your Head Off was released, King Parrot have gone from strength to strength. Supporting Kvelertak, Cattle Decapitation, Obituary and Australian heroes, Psycroptic, this year alone.

King Parrot have made a name for themselves as Australia’s most brutal live band, with singer Matt Young seemingly channeling G.G Allen and terrorising crowds, screaming in their faces, riding around on their shoulders, and inciting the most dangerous pits seen in this country, with one fan even being knocked out cold at a show in Frankston.

As huge supporters of King Parrot, and advocates for Australian heavy music in general, the whole HEAVY Magazine team is right behind AJ’s decision and would love to see the band spread their wings (we got one more in) around the country on each leg of the festival.

If you haven’t seen the devastating force that is King Parrot, you can catch them live headlining HEAVY’s own Brutality Fest on Saturday October 12, 2013.

Soundwave rumours: The Eagles, Birds of Tokyo, Radiobirdman, Eagles of Death Metal…ahhh we could go on for days!
