Review by Alex Sievers

When bands break up or go on a hiatus and then return years later, sometimes it’s really not for the best, and in some cases, is just embarrassing. In Atreyu’s case however, their return really was for the best as Long Live is the essential Atreyu record, and one of the best feathers in their hip, sideward-placed caps.

Six years on from their last effort, Congregation Of The Damned, and the dark, viscous growls of Alex Varkatzas remain, the soaring guitar leads and impeccably clean solos from Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel are all intact, and those monolithic euphoric choruses lead by drummer/singer Brandon Saller are paramount. This album really is Atreyu through and through.

So yes, Long Live is a rather safe comeback record in the grand scheme of things, but the band haven’t returned empty handed from their journey to the far-off Land of Hiatus, no, they’ve come back with some of their most consistent and most polished material yet. Thus, to any and all new and old fans out there I say, “You are in for a real treat”.

Long Live Atreyu, mother*ckers!
