An Eye On The Future With JEFF HATRIX & IAN D SNIESAK From JEFFREY NOTHING

Share This:

Since officially leaving Mushroomhead in 2018, Jeff Hatrix has focused his creative talents into another project, Jeffrey Nothing.

Since then, Nothing have released nine separate singles, with 1,000 Years rounding that number up to double figures.

Musically, Hatrix’s DNA is all over the project, taking the best parts of what he is known and loved for and combining them with the talents and passions of a new line-up that shares his vision.

The result is the masterfully wicked Jeffrey Nothing, a band as big on atmospherics as they are music.
Hatrix and Jeffrey Nothing co-vocalist Ian D Sniesak joined HEAVY on the cusp of the release of 1,000 Years to talk about the song.

“I’m feeling pretty good about the release,” Sniesak offered. “It’s a well-written piece of music, and it has an epic feel. It’s got an awesome solo in it as well, but I’m just glad we’re able to release it finally. We tracked it three years ago or longer.”

“We’ve actually played it live before,” Hatrix chimed in.

“I like how there’s a good balance of me and Jeff,” Sniesak continued. “We trade off vocals and feed off each other. I like that there’s a lot of melodic singing and then the chorus is heavy with some screaming and then for Jeff’s part he is doing his thing. I like the song a lot. I’m glad that we were able to shoot a video too, because we’re all spread out. Jeff’s in Cleveland, and I’m up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is about four and a half hours away. It’s exciting to be able to get it out finally.”

In the full interview, Jeff and Ian talk more about the musical direction of 1,000 Years, the subject matter and how it relates to Save22.vet, the dynamics of the song and why they are important, Jeff’s departure from Mushroomhead and his musical legacy, how Jeffrey Nothing continues his personal path in music, whether the ten songs will be put together on an album, future music and more.
