Vikings, get out your mead and longswords swinging, Amon Amarth released today via social news site Reddit, the cover details for their upcoming album.
The Swedish melodic metallers will be naming their 9th studio release Deceiver of the Gods and the cover artwork retains the bands themes of viking mythology.
States the band, “The cover depicts the last battle between the Gods and Loki who arrives at Vigridr field accompanied by the army of the dead during Ragnarok, the end of the world.” No doubt people well versed in all things Viking will know what that means.
Famed English producer Andy Sneap, who has produced classic albums for Arch Enemy, Exodus, Megadeth, Opeth and a mile long list of other metal bands, is behind the production. The past three albums were produced by fellow Swede Jens Bogren. It will be interesting to see what Sneap will bring to the mixing desk.
Fans can also keep an eye out this weekend on the band’s website as they will also be releasing the title track as a free stream/download HERE.
