ALEX ANDRA Ramps Things Up

Share This:

Perth punk/pop outfit Alex Andra have released their second single, “Infliction”, a tale about social media in the world we live in and people’s reliance on it.

After debuting with “Not The Beginning”, Alex Andra have explored another side of their musical psyche here, with frontwoman and founding member Paige Savill sitting down with HEAVY for a chat about the single and more.

“I really wanted to explore more electronic elements with this one,” she said, “as opposed to the debut single “Not The Beginning”. A lot of the subject matter that I do cover in my songs is generally me grappling with something that I don’t feel is right, and this is no exception. This is a problem that I kind of face all day, every day, especially within my art because it seems like you can’t exist as an artist – even as a person – without being entangled in social media. So many people in so many ways can be taken advantage of or you lose yourself or whatever it might be and I wanted to explore that and I think that it deserves the kind of tone that we ended with. I think it matched it quite perfectly.”

In the full interview, Paige discusses the film clip and its interesting look, future music and its direction, choosing whether to diversify musically or play it safe with a debut album, why she decided to leave the safety net of a band to embark on a solo career, the difficulties an emerging artist has faced with COVID, and more.
