[ALBUM REVIEW] HAMMER KING: King Is Rising

Share This:

Hammer King are Power Metal (Or ROYAL METAL as they like to say on their Facebook page) they come from France and are ready to kick your ass majestically with their new album King Is Rising, due to drop November 18.

Hammer King blitz through 12 tracks of fist pumping, awesomely cheesy music, you could easily make a drinking game out of how many time the words King, battle or war is mentioned, it is absolutely glorious.

From the album opener which doubles as the title track, the band don’t let up, with Iron Maiden styled twin guitar attacks from Guitarist/vocalist Titan Fox V and second guitarist Gino Wilde and the tight rhythm section held up by Drummer Dolph A. Macallan and Bassist K.K. Basement, these French metal maniacs aren’t messing around. The songs continue in this fashion from the mid tempo thump of Kill The Messenger, the speedy Battle Gorse and the DIO inspired closer Eternal Tower Of Woe.

The vocal styling very strongly recalls EDGUY and IRON MAIDEN and a little HELLOWEEN thrown for good measure, there’s a lot of war cries, fantastic bellowing, calls to arms and Titan Fox V rises to the challenge. If you don’t want to drink a giant pitcher of mead and prepare for battle by the end of this album, you don’t deserve to be listening to this album.

All in all, this is a strong Power Metal album, the band is tight, the music is fun, and would definitely make a great addition to your collection.
