[ALBUM REVIEW] FROM INSIDE: The New Era EP

Share This:

After forming last year, Liverpool based alternative metalcore band From Inside have already released their debut EP which is titled The New Era. The aim of From Inside? Offer music to people who will help them through tough times.

From Inside take inspiration from Bring Me The Horizon and early Linkin Park, something immediately apparent on the EP opener Still Breathing. Harsh and clean vocals, breakdowns, electronic beats. It does mix the two bands together in the best possible way but is still unique and sets the tone for the rest of the EP.

A track that spoke the most to me was Two Sides of Me: a deeply emotional song about mental illness. The sound of this track is very reminiscent of The Amity Affliction Unclean vocalist Simon Mora has one hell of a scream and his passion and sadness is very obvious which just really helps push that deep meaning home.

This EP is, without a doubt, a surprise early contender for album of the year. Unlike a lot of metalcore releases where each song sounds all too similar, From Inside change things up slightly with each track, proving they aren’t just a one-trick pony and it shows experience beyond a debut release. The production of this release is brilliantly done also. I highly recommend checking The New Era EP out, and I keenly await a full album from one of metal’s big up and comers.
