With all the legal woes behind them, Vista Chino, who have been performing under the moniker Kyuss Lives since legal dramas arose when the original name Kyuss could no longer be used have signed with Napalm Records and can now focus on their upcoming album.
Vista Chino comprises of two of the founding members of Kyuss, lead vocalist John Garcia and drummer Brant Bjork. They performed as Kyuss Lives one last time at this year’s Soundwave Festival in Australia.
Legal issues arose in 2012 when former Kyuss members Josh Homme and Scott Reeder began court proceedings to have Garcia stop using the name Kyuss or preventing them from releasing any new material under Kyuss Lives. At the time Bjork told Rolling Stone “Josh filing this lawsuit is not an issue of today … it’s an issue that began over 20 years ago.”
Regarding the new chapter for the musicians, Garcia says “Kyuss Lives is now Vista Chino…it feels great just to write that….and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it’s time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick-ass music and tour the world”.
