MATRIARCHS return with ROT, a new single that pushes the band deeper into the darker, more abrasive side of its sound.
Built around suffocating atmosphere, violent rhythmic shifts and an overwhelming sense of tension, ROT is not interested in polishing the edges. The track is deliberately ugly when it needs to be – heavy music built around frustration, decay and the feeling of watching something collapse from the inside. Rather than treating heaviness as an end in itself, MATRIARCHS use it as atmosphere. Industrial textures, metallic percussion, dissonance and massive low-end collide with moments of space and restraint, allowing the song to breathe just long enough before closing back in.
The song continues MATRIARCHS‘ refusal to fit comfortably inside a single corner of modern heavy music. Elements of hardcore, extreme metal, industrial music and alternative heavy music exist throughout the band’s DNA, but ROT is less concerned with genre conventions than creating something immediate, hostile and emotionally honest.
