Boorloo/Perth doom-metal outfit Dreamspeed have announced their debut EP, Demo, set for release Friday 6 November. Today, the four-piece unveil new single Corpse Light, a searing showcase of their blackened screamo, depressive doom and post-black metal sound.
Corpse Light brings together blast beats, wailing guitar feedback, haunted vocals and undulating rhythm and melody, spanning the full breadth of Dreamspeed’s sound. Encompassing parts torn and re-imagined from a much longer 10-minute demo, the track is often the brutal resolution to their live set. Lyrically, it’s about becoming damned, reflecting on the sorrow and despair of the moon-mirrored towers of Minas Morgul from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, interwoven with loveless promises of vengeance.
Already making waves on the live circuit throughout Perth, Dreamspeed have shared stages with dark and alternative artists including Halo of Teeth, Life Cult, The Chain and Shit Narnia, while also appearing at Loudmouth Records’ One Blood Fest and Arrival Festival 2026. This September, the band will join Perth death-metal legends Crypt Crawler as part of Blacken Forever Festival – a nationwide celebration of music and solidarity, uniting Australia’s heavy metal community to Save The Black Wreath.
