Beast Machine‘s new single Look What You’ve Done is a song about addiction, specifically the opioid crisis in America and the mind-blowing fact the current abuse of OxyContin still rages today.
The sample grab at the start of the song is from one of the ‘experts’ spruiking for the big pharmaceutical companies saying if the patient is dope sick then just up their medication.
The idea behind Look What You’ve Done was to write something that is closer to what Beast Machine does in a live setting. The band have released a bunch of singles in the past that have always came out sounding a lot mellower than what they actually are when playing live, so with this song the duo wanted to try and capture some of the intensity of the live show – which is a hard thing to do.
