After six years without releasing new music, Melbourne melodic metal veterans Vanishing Point triumphantly returned in late 2020 with their highly rated album Dead Elysium.
Despite being robbed of valuable touring opportunities because of recent world events, the band have vowed to make up for lost time this month and into next when they take to the road for a special run of shows and finally get to deliver the full sonic experience of the album live.
Vocalist Silvio Massaro joined HEAVY to talk about the tour, starting with bringing up the fact that the tour is finally happening.
“Mate, honestly, we felt like that for a very, very long time,” he sighed. “You’ve gotta think, we released the album nearly two years ago and we’re finally touring with it now. It’s not something obviously we planned to do, but, hey, we’ve finally got an opportunity to get out there and so we will. Before when we tried to get these gigs booked in it was just too difficult with the lockdowns and all the uncertainties going on. We’re just glad and grateful it’s all over and we’re able to get back out there.”
In the full interview, Silvio talks more about the tour and what to expect, falling in love with your music all over again, the fact Dead Elysium was Vanishing Points first album in six years and why, things the band discussed leading in to it, translating atmospherics in music to the live arena, future plans and more.
