Memoirs of ATLVS

With the impending release of their debut E.P Memoir, Melbourne’s ATLVS have dropped their fourth single from the album, ‘Sick’, with an underlying theme and accompanying film clip that gives a renewed sense of hope to those going through personal demons.

‘The white room (in the film clip) is more a portrayal of Francis‘ (King, vocalist) mind of being enclosed and alone”, explained drummer Nick Clavarino. “Once you’ve got your personal demons and you’re fighting them on your own it goes into the natural landscape of seeing and having a better perspective on life and the transition of being more of a whole person and then going off into the sunset is more a leading into the realisation of who we’re meant to be as people and how to continue that journey into a brighter path”.

The overall feel and sound of Memoir is a metaphor for problems throw at you in day to day life and while not intending to give definitive answers to these questions, deals with these issues from the perspective and balance of someone going through them and ways in which to cope.

“Everything that we do falls under the umbrella of metalcore”, Clavarino continued, “but as you listen to the E.P from start to finish it’s sort of going on a bit of a story and your ups and downs of what’s going on in your personal life so you’re going from the anger to the hurt inside, so then more anger, and it leads towards the end which is more like acceptance and leaving things open for what’s to come”.

In the full interview Nick discusses the formation of ATLVS and what they bring to the Australian metal family, gives a more in-depth analysis of the single and E.P, discusses the personal nature of the lyrics, their goals and expectations for the E.P. what it’s like as an emerging artist coming into the Australian metal scene and more.
