The flying Finns are back with a brand new album that already has critics right across the world raving. Yes Children Of Bodom have rightfully gained the position one of the most talked about heavy bands in the world. It has been twenty-two years since the band exploded onto the scene and in that time they have formed a reputation of being one of the best live bands in the world and now their tenth studio album is about to drop and everyone who has already heard Hexed has fallen in love with it.
“It really depends on your partner,” laughs Henkka T. Blacksmith as we sit down to talk about Hexed while he is looking after his sick daughter and I ask how difficult it is to handle parenthood with being the bass guitarist of Children Of Bodom. “We met when I was already doing this so that is kind of the default lifestyle for me. But yeah days like this is just bad luck. The album comes out tomorrow, so a lot of press today and she just happens to be sick. It’s mostly interviews so I put some movies on for her and it is fine.”
“No I’m not really nervous,” he says when the conversation shifts to how he feels now that Hexed is about to be released to their fans. “It is more a kind of relief because it was ready back in July so we have been waiting for like eight or nine months, so it is more like a ‘finally’ feeling. Not so many people ask questions about the album which is good because that would be annoying so usually I don’t even think about it during that time… I certainly don’t listen to it until I get the actual product in my hand. Of course now that we are touring next week I have had to start practising so have started to listen to it quite a lot to learn the songs, but otherwise it is more waiting to get on the road.”
