Melbourne’s Wallapalooza Festival is back. It’s one of Australia’s longest running independent festivals and an important date in your rock ‘n’ roll calendar. Taking inspiration from the recent furore raised in opposition to idiotic lock-out laws in the northern states, the 2016 edition of Wallapalooza brings together some of the most cinematic rock, stoner and metal acts to the Australian city that never sleeps, ready to shake Richmond’s iconic Corner Hotel with a killer line-up.
The festival will be run across two stages on Saturday 16 April 2016. Classic rock stalwarts Electric Mary, the reliably wild and wonderful road warrior Dallas Frasca, the entertaining Americana-style rock of Dirt River Radio, plus killer sets from Smoking Martha, The Mercy Kills, Redstarborn and Sheriff. All testaments to the enduring rock ‘n’ roll spirit of old Melbourne town.
Organiser Andy Clark, whose passion for live music runs both long and deep, is vehement that this be not remembered as the generation that enabled the death of live music. Wallapalooza seeks to promote co-operation in the Australian music scene, advocating for collective strength through bonding over a shared love of live performance, and a breaking down of the perceived barriers between styles. This event will kick off a series of live festival events to run across the country throughout the year under the Wallapalooza banner.
Punters can grab early bird tickets to the event right now for only $25+bf HERE. But get in early, as prices go up from the 13 March, if they aren’t already sold out.
