As 2023 draws to a close, the organizers of WACKEN OPEN AIR would like to take the opportunity to look ahead with some news on W:O:A 2024, including information on the new arrival system: In order to best assess the traffic situation at the start of the festival, Metalheads arriving by car must register online in advance for their day of arrival and will then receive their Access Pass. The registration phase is expected to begin at the end of January.
A limited contingent of Access Passes will also be available for the Sunday before the festival begins – a premiere, since for the first time in W:O:A’s history the camping areas will open their gates at this time. To kick off their metal week, early arrivals can look forward to a welcome party with Wacken boss Holger Hübner aka DJ Hübi. All details about arrival, camping on Sunday and additional camping offers can be found at wacken.com.
“As we look back on 2023, we would like to once again express our huge gratitude to everyone who made this year’s W:O:A possible in the first place. We’re thinking of our crew, the authorities, the entire region, our colleagues from Hungriger Wolf and Volksparkstadion and so many more – especially those who stayed at home, our ‘Heroes’,” says Hübner. His partner Thomas Jensen adds: “In order to be best prepared for the upcoming edition, we and our team have developed a system that’ll allow us even more precise planning and can help to optimize the traffic situation for everyone. We would therefore like to thank the Metalheads in advance for their support in this matter with their pre-registration – and look forward to spending a whole week on the field with some of them!”
In the video interview below, Hübner and Jensen explain more about the arrivals system, the access passes and special camping offers:
