Vicious: “A young power trio with lots of steel to unleash.”

Canadian metallers, Vicious, will be heading to Australia to take part in the Steel Assassins line-up. Jake Gracie and Garth Potter caught up with HEAVY Mag to chat about their first ever visit to Australia.

The band has had multiple line-up changes over the years. We ask whether this has had any impact on touring and recording. “Perseverance and determination to stay rocking and rolling is what makes us keep going. We play everywhere and anywhere we can all the time so we reach out to as many potential fans as we can with our live shows, which is what we feel draws the people in anyways. We’ve only recorded a demo and our debut album ourselves really and the only detriment is how frustrating it is to get the record out by yourself sometimes. We took almost a year to completely finish First Drop of Venom and we don’t want to take nearly that long for our second full-length.

The band have performed at multiple festival dates in Canada, as well as a full-length tour. “We’ve opened for bands such as Deicide and Skull Fist. Our latest accomplishment is getting the opportunity to play Steel Assassins Fest this year in Sydney. We’re super stoked to finally play outside of our home country.”

One thing that stands out whilst listening to and watching this band, is their lead singer is also their drummer. “[That] isn’t something you always see in our genre. We are also a young power trio with lots of steel to unleash on the masses so we’re not going anywhere soon, except to the top. As the Macho Man would say, “The cream will RISE to the TOP!”

Apart from performing whilst in Australia, Vicious has definite plans for their downtime. “We definitely plan on drinking all the Australian beer we can and partying with all the bangers and super hot Aussie babes. We’re also going to try not to get bitten by any of the crazy animals that will try to kill us down there, although we are stoked to see kangaroos and party with them.”

After this stop to Australia, Vicious plans on more writing and touring. “We plan to just pretty much stay on the road as much as possible and rock everyone and everywhere we can.”
