Alternative/hard rock band UNDERSCORE have dropped their double-single featuring OUT OF TIME and TELL ME.
After a period of reflective hibernation, the Auckland-based trio has returned with a renewed sound and
vision. This self-produced project emphasizes a darker, more rugged direction and encapsulates multi-faceted layers of inspiration from each member of the band.
“We’ve been laying low for a little while as we kinda reinvent ourselves, new look, new sound,” Meyer said. “I’m super pumped about the direction of the band, and excited for the music and shows that are to come. It’s a little darker, a little rougher around the edges. In a way, I think we’ve finally accepted who we are as an alt/hard rock band and really jumped headfirst into it.”
Out Of Time tells of the fears that accompany a prolonged “waiting game”; where something you’ve
longed for, might end up disappointing you when it finally arrives. The instrumental energy and soaring vocals captivate a sense of urgency that many of us relate to.
Tell Me expresses frustration at the prejudice of haters; how strangers can perceive one another negatively without ever really knowing each other. That passive aggression is expressed through both lyrics and sound and the passionate discord is electrifyingly evident in the pure tension of the track.
