Triumphant Return of MESHIAAK

Share This:

After bursting onto the scene three years ago with stunning debut album Alliance of Thieves Melbourne hard rock outfit Meshiaak seemed to go from the band on everyone’s lips to relative obscurity with only sporadic outbursts heard from the band in the ensuing years.

Despite touring often overseas and maintaining a respectable if not impactful presence on the local scene, it seemed that possibly Meshiaak had missed their opportunity but with the recent release of follow up Mask of All Misery the band has once again fired a resounding warning shot of their future intentions.

On the surface, the title is a bleak outlook on everyday life, with vocalist  Danny Camilleri confirming that and more when pressed on the matter.

“Absolutely!” he exclaimed. “It is a very deep album in terms of lyrical content. There’s a lot of personal issues on there. I tend to use music as my venting tool (laughs). The lyrical content is quite deep but it was done like that on purpose. For me, it tackles a lot of areas that many bands don’t really delve into much any more”.

In the full interview, Danny goes into greater detail on Mask of All Misery, the correlation between lyrics, music, and aggression, the sanitised state of the music industry, what the band has been up to since debut album Alliance of Thieves, how this album differs musically, upcoming tours and more.
