The latest album from California’s Throw the Goat is refreshingly bright and a musical punch in the face in these troubled times.
From the crunchy chainsaw guitars and hardcore drums to the howling melodic vocals Capitol Hell packs a nice punch that any budding skateboarder would love to thrash their ears to. Life itself seems as though it took these guys on a musical journey back in time to when music was cool again and spat them back out into the future of the punk/ metal scene.
Throw The Goat show a great deal of musical diversity on this album from fast to eve more fast-paced tracks that leave you wanting more ear candy even after the songs have disappeared into the back of your mind.
There was a couple of stand out tracks for me.
I loved “Just Skating By”. I didn’t want this track to end and could have sung it to myself or out loud all day long.
“Hot Truck Whisky” starts out as a short, moody track that breaks into a full force entity of music towards the end – short but sweet.
“Know Your Worth” has a great catchy melodic chorus that was simply tasteful to my ears.
Overall Capitol Hell is a fantastic listen that begs you to thrash it out just one more time or until the neighbours tell you to turn it down.
The album should always be played at full volume with no compromise. Don’t let your parents tell you what to do, let Throw The Goat guide you through your teenage years.
Capitol Hell is your new best friend when no one else is around. It’s hot, it’s fast-paced, it’s everything you want to get you through the pandemic. Don’t let your little sister listen to this album she might never give it back!
