The final pieces of The World Is A Vampire Festival local supports puzzle locked into place over the weekend with the completion of the final of the Battle of the Bands competition at Vinnies Dive Bar on the Gold Coast.
Run by Rebel FM and hosted by the charismatic Dave, yesterday’s final saw the culmination of two previous heats unfold on Saturday afternoon, with the quality of performances making it almost impossible to determine a winner.
After much deliberation, The Silencio were named as the local support for the April 30 Gold Coast leg of the festival, which is headlined by The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction with RedHook, Amyl & The Sniffers and Battlesnake also doing the run.
Massive shout-outs to everyone who played the final, with Eyesite, Tailor Made Rejects, Dellacoma and We The Hollow all delivering outstanding sets, but unfortunately only one band could go through and The Silencio got the chocolates.
Last Friday Brisbane rock machine PistonFist were announced as local support for both the Brisbane and Bribie Island shows, which kick off the festival on April 15 and 16 respectively.
While a couple of the shows have sold out and tickets are moving at a rapid rate, you can still secure your ticket to The World Is A Vampire Festival here: www.oneworldentertainment.com.au
Word on the street is that Vinnies have something special brewing in relation to the final show on April 30 so stay tuned for more details…
