The Sum Of All Parts With MILES TO MIDNIGHT

“there’s definitely a lot more to the album, a lot of different sounds coming.”

Finding that balance between musical influences can be even more challenging than writing music.

Every band has to be influenced from another, but while many bands take influence from bands of the same or similar genre, some dip deep into the genre pool to enable them to create something fresh and vibrant and provide a different sonic palate to what is normally consumed.

So it is with Sydney six piece alternative rock outfit Miles To Midnight, who cite influence from a diverse range of artists in the hope of delivering an all-encompassing musical experience that can be enjoyed by fans of any genre.

Following the release of their latest single Walk Away, founding members Josh Mason and Sam Morrell joined HEAVY to chat about the single and upcoming album.

“This song kind of presented itself to us,” Morrell began. “We were playing some riffs and that turned into an opening riff and then we built a song around it. It formed into this song you can listen to in the car on the radio, or you can listen to in the gym, or at a party and it says something in a different way to different people.”

In the full interview, the boys talk more about Walk Away, the release of their debut album Out Of Time, the thought process that goes into a debut album, writing and recording during lockdown, blending genres and making them work and more.
