The Simulation of BORN OSIRIS

Australia couldn’t have picked a better time to welcome Born Of Osiris to our shores for a tour. The progressive metalcore band which hails from Chicago is on a high after their brand new album, The Simulation, which was released in January this year gained the band even more fans as it roared its way onto the American music charts.

With the band about to make its way to Australia with Chelsea Grin HEAVY Mag chatted to the bands keyboard player Joe Buras to find what they have in store for Australian fans.

“It has been awhile since we have been there,” says Buras with a laugh. “We’re coming for Destroy All Lines who we have worked with before. At the moment we are just all trying to get together to prepare for the tour because our band used to be based in Chicago, now I am in San Diego, we have someone in Dallas, then we have someone in Arizona, the drummer that is going to play with us is not from Japan but is going to be in Japan… so it is all very crazy. We are kind of all meeting up from very different areas. But yeah we’re really excited because we get to play for an hour and we are going to play nearly all the songs off The Simulation.”

“Yeah a lot of it is online,” he explains when I ask how the band gets together to write or rehearse when they are so spread out these days. “At the moment we are working on our seventh full-length record and we have a tonne of material for that. We are all in a group text messaging together, everybody sends in their clips, and then I’ll pick a song and be like ‘hey, can you take out the guitar in this part’ or ‘can you send me just the drum track so I can mess around with it’ and then I will add some vocals and some keys. Then Ronnie did a vocal thing the other day, but with the internet and texting it is so easy to share files these days.”
