THE NEPTUNE POWER FEDERATION To Launch Comic SPEEK EVIL Over Three shows

Share This:

Mike Foxall of the Neptune Power Federation (and ex-Nancy Vandal) has a new issue of his incredible illustrated magazine SPEEK EVIL out, and, following a Sydney launch featuring Frenzal Rhomb last Saturday, the Neptune Power Federation are launching it with three shows in Victoria as outlined below.

SPEEK EVIL is an illustrated magazine celebrating rock and roll in all its lank-haired, overdriven, strung-out, dirty denimed glory. It’s the brainchild of Australian rock underground musician and artist Mike “Fox” Foxall, who has for decades created album covers, posters, music videos and T-shirts designs for van loads of bands as well as his own numerous entities including Nancy Vandal, Deadshit Johnson, The Neptune Power Federation and Sick Fizz.

Speek Evil posits a fantastical cult comic world where the superheroes aren’t Wolverine, Batman or Thor, but Dave Vanian, Wendy O Williams and Ace Frehley. Here readers are treated to a rock history untold in the official biographies – one where Ted Nugent is visited by the ghost of Christmas past, Ronnie James Dio’s diminutive stature was caused by a botched satanic curse and Jerry Only battles a haunted computer in the I.T department where he works. These tales are bolstered by yarns and vintage record reviews provided by contemporary Australian rock and rollers such as Ray Ahn, Jade Dicklord, Tim Rogers, Mick Simpson and Screaming Loz Sutch all brought to life by Fox through the magic of drawing. Editions 5 and 6 of the mag also came with bonus 7” singles, doubling down on the tangible goodies in an intangible world.

Volume 6 featuring Jay Frenzal, Glenno Smith and Sean St Leone and a Chinese Burns Unit / Sick Fizz split single is being launched at the shows below.
