Review by Kevin Prested

Melbourne punk royalty, The Meanies have returned (finally!) with their first new full length release in just over two decades, It’s Not Me It’s You. The bands new home is that of Poison City Records, who also reissued The Meanies back catalogue last year, and this new release is an enjoyable romp around the fuzzed up pop punk back yard.

Although semi active after a few years break in 1995 it was seemingly the newly invigorated Cosmic Psychos who helped the band to jump back into the studio to record a new album that has shades of ‘90s alternative noise, garage pop and three chord buzzsaw punk. Those in the know since the bands older records should know what to expect with It’s Not Me It’s You. It’s not going to break any new ground, which I am sure isn’t the purpose, yet what is on offer is a grand old fun ride back on the power pop merry go round.
