If you have not seen a live performance by The Fabulous Caprettos, then you, my friends, are simply missing out.
The Fabulous Caprettos are a premier Australian rock supergroup originally formed in 2020, bringing together iconic frontmen to play a living-jukebox setlist of their collective hits. The group’s unique name is a tongue-in-cheek band in-joke. While peers referred to them as the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT), the members opted for capretto—the Italian word for a baby or small goat—to keep their egos in check.
While original foundational members included Aussie legends Daryl Braithwaite and Russell Morris, the lineup has evolved over their multi-year national tours to now include Dave Gleeson (The Screaming Jets/The Angels), Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc), Joe Camilleri (The Black Sorrows/Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons), Jack Jones (Southern Sons), and Wendy Matthews (7-time ARIA Award winner joining as a regular featured powerhouse).
Rather than operating as a standard cover band, the Caprettos share the stage for the entire concert, instrumentally backing one another. They seamlessly trade off lead vocals on their own multi-generational radio anthems, such as Thirsty Merc’s In the Summertime, The Screaming Jets‘ Better, The Black Sorrows’ Chained to the Wheel, and Southern Sons’ Hold Me in Your Arms.
HEAVY witnessed the spectacle ourselves over the weekend when the band played three SE QLD shows and had a blast! For more information and tour dates, check out https://www.fabulouscaprettos.com.au/
