THE CASANOVAS Unleash Latest Single ‘The Lover’

Share This:

Melbourne’s rock’n’roll kings The Casanovas have today released another killer single, The Lover, from their forthcoming fifth album Backseat Rhythms, which is out August 25.

Following on from the riff-rocking previous single The Devil In Me which reveled in AC/DC-like dynamics and tone, The Lover is in classic Paul Stanley/Kiss territory, kicking off with a hint of mystery and seduction in the verse before changing gears into a big hooky bridge.

It is further proof, if it was ever needed, that these guys are the real deal; they’ve got the whole gamut of ’70s hard rock down cold and while they do have a sly sense of humour, there is no taking the piss. The Casanovas play the music they love, and if you love this kind of music, you’ll love them. As Melbourne identity and owner of the world-famous Cherry Bar, James Young, says: “It’s like they’ve captured all my favourite rock acts – Cheap Trick, Stones, Kiss, ZZ Top & AC/DC, and crammed them all into their own jar of Vegemite.”

Of course, this time out they’ve had some expert help: both singles and indeed all of Backseat Rhythms were mixed by legendary US producer Ron Nevison – a man who made his mark working on an engineer on The Who’s Quadrophenia, Bad Company’s debut and Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti before going onto produce Thin Lizzy, UFO and Kiss amongst others.
