Thawing Out With KCAVEMEN

Share This:

Adelaide shock rock/metal outfit KcaveMen is a musical project with a difference.

Not only does the band take little except their music seriously, but they also have developed an engrossing back story to their formation that is the perfect segue to their music and appearance.

With a menacing look and aura combining to create some seriously kick-ass tunes, KcaveMen have finally released their second album Evolution, more than ten years after announcing their arrival on the metal landscape.

Band member KC joined HEAVY for a chat about the myriad of wonders that is the band and their music.

“I can definitely just make it a generic metal band speel and talk about who we are and what we do,” he began, “but to really go past the theatrical side is what I like to do. I used to be a wrestler so I was all about developing characters and I was out scouting for new characters for a wrestling company and I found these masks and got this image in my head. They were funny looking caveman masks with wigs on and I could see them with guitars and drums and everything and I knew it had to happen. That was back in 2005 and the band didn’t really take off until 2010 when I met Todd Hansen, who is the drummer from King Parrot and The Berzerker and he actually wanted to drum for a different project I was doing. I pitched him KcaveMen and that’s when stuff started to get real. KcaveMen is somewhat of a joke but at the same time, we are still being serious. It is a side project for both of us so me and Todd are the two main guys behind the band but at the same time we’re still trying to take it pretty seriously while doing it.”

In the full interview KC talks more about the history of KcaveMen, having Todd in the band, their latest album, how he would describe KcaveMen’s sound, adding humour to your music, future plans and more.
