Known for bridging the gap between Indie, hip-hop, punk and rock, genre-bending British artist Bakar will flow from the runways of Paris, where he soundtracked Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 23 Men’s show during Paris Fashion Week, to Yours and Owls! Bakar, who has a knack for delivering captivating lyrics and melodic beats, has been captivating his community of over 3.5M+ monthly listeners on Spotify with his unique brand of music, supporting the likes of Travis Scott and playing festivals like Reading and Leeds.
Since first emerging from (and defining) the Southern California pop-punk scene in 1978, the legendary Descendents have continued to declare war on mediocrity; they have released classic after classic, from their landmark 1982 LP Milo Goes to College through to 2022’s 9th & Walnut. Eight studio albums, five EP’s, decades of endless global touring and consistently inspiring and educating generations of adolescents on the laws of punk rock by encouraging them to boldly launch into the mosh pit; we welcome the band of Milo Aukerman (vocals), Bill Stevenson (drums), Stephen Egerton (guitar), and Karl Alvarez (bass) to the Gong in 2023!
Ocean Alley have mesmerised audiences worldwide with their infectious melody lines and memorable blend of psychedelic-surf-rock since their inception in 2011. October 2022 saw the release of the band’s fourth album, Low Altitude Living. Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this talented collective has carved a distinct niche for themselves with their infectious melodies, smooth harmonies, and enthralling live performances. With their breakout hit Confidence in 2018, Ocean Alley gained widespread recognition, propelling them to international success.
Joining them will be Melbourne indie four-piece Teenage Dads, Melbourne surf, punk, blues, garage, psych, rockabilly and reggae trio The Grogans, Northern Beaches indie rockers The Rions, your new favourite surf-indie outfit Gerringong’s The Terrys, Kiama’s indie rock kings The Vanns, Brisbane indie powerhouse Tia Gostelow and Los Angeles indie pop queen Wallice.
Yours and Owls will take over the University of Wollongong campus for two days, igniting the UOW’s grounds, lush green ovals and hidden laneways to the sounds and sights of some of the world’s and Australia’s best talent. University of Wollongong frame provides several all-weather solutions to ensure Yours and Owls is more robust against all possible weather conditions, so they will see you there, rain, hail, and hopefully shine!
