With a name such as Heroes of Mighty Magic, it should come as no surprise what Swedish band Twilight Force are offering up with this latest release. Imagery of ancient medieval landscapes and dragons permeate the entire album, as it takes the listener on an epic adventure through a realm of its own conjuring.

A lush string arrangement provides the sonic backdrop of this release, adding an air of positivity/determination to the music that is infectious, and just teetering on the verge of being over-the-top, though I never said that was a bad thing. Quite the contrary, as this album aims for and strikes at the heart of everyone’s inner fantasy fanatic, with its larger than life vocal delivery, and lyrical themes that will transport the listener into a new and exciting place.

From the opening, Battle of Arcane Might, there is no turning back, as Twilight Force take you on a journey through time. Standout tracks include Guardian of The Seas, displaying impressive guitar passages, and a tightness you only get with a band who are in sync with each other. Another notable mention is Flight of the Sapphire Dragon, which conjures visions of the medieval quest in the most gloriously, cheesy way.

Overall, this album is a mighty, magical and fantastical listening experience.
