Party of Two with BOLZER

Yeah, for sure”, replied Okoi Jones, vocalist and guitarist for Swedish extreme metallers Bolzer when asked if touring different countries poses differing challenges. “You’ve always got your… you’re aware of what you have to do. Certain crowds react differently and some require a little more attention. Australia really wouldn’t be one of these because they just get into it in general (laughs) so it’s nice to have a crowd like that. Depending on the country you are in that’s definitely a factor that comes into play and you usually construct your set accordingly and try and get into the mood if necessary”.

Bolzer have a fearsome live reputation despite only having two members and Jones pauses when asked if it is an advantage or disadvantage performing live as a duo.

“It has it’s pro’s and con’s”, he measured, “but you have to separate that with the writing process, the logistics, inter-personal relationships, all of these factors. I see it as a positive thing. I have a great friendship and working relationship with my drummer so it’s really just one big package of all things combined that just happen to jive and make music. Technicalities can be an issue. It’s just the two of you and you are left to your own devices so that requires some attention and experience”.

In the full interview Okoi discusses what Bolzer have in store for fans, the reasons behind starting life as a duo and continuing that way, how Bolzer get the massive sound they do despite only have two members, the reason it took four years to get out the first recording and why they released an E.P in three consecutive years from then, new music and when it will be coming and a special message to Australian fans.
