Brisbane Band THEREIN To Perform Debut SYSTEM OF A DOWN Album In Full

Share This:

From the opening chords and the catchy chorus, there aren’t many metalheads around who wouldn’t be able to instantly identify the break-out single from the 1998, debut self-titled System Of A Down album.

It’s been 25 years since that album was released, and Brisbane prog-rock-metal-fusion stalwarts Therein have decided to pay their tributes to this outstanding record and attempt to do it justice by playing it in full, on Friday, June 30 at King Lear’s Throne in Fortitude Valley.

“System of a Down’s self-titled album is kind of iconic. While not really a conventional metal album, it’s had a significant impact on our music tastes in some way. They made something unique and impossible to recreate. So good luck to us I guess!” Cameron Whelan, guitarist from Therein says, explains why this album means so much to them collectively and why they chose to attempt to cover it.

I’ve always wanted to play a System set, especially the first album. I even did a guitar play through video once. The album’s 25th anniversary feels like the best possible excuse to do it as a band, doesn’t it?” he says.

Joining them on the night will be special guests Regular Gonzalez and Exotic Potion Cookies and there might just be a few surprises in store for punters on the night as well, with some potential guest vocalists and musicians joining Therein onstage in their tribute.

Get your tickets here, right now, and get ready to come along, have a party and belt out all the classics from this outstanding album.
