SUPERHEIST “Seize The Day” In Memory Of SEANHEIST

Share This:

Earlier this year the Australian music industry was rocked by the passing of original drummer and co-founding member of Superheist, Sean “Seanheist” Pentecost.

His passing sent shockwaves through music lovers everywhere, especially those closest to him including his former bandmates and lifelong friends in the band.

To celebrate Sean’s life and hopefully bring some semblance of peace to his loved ones the members of Superheist vowed to pen a tune in Sean’s memory, with the resulting track “Seize The Day” to be released on Thursday, December 10.

Superheist’s DW Norton sat down for an emotional but uplifting chat about the song and the legacy that is Sean “Seanheist” Pentecost.

“This song is a memorial track for SeanHeist who we lost tragically this year,” Norton began. “It’s something that we wanted to do for him in his memory so we’ve always got something to remember him by. Sean passed away halfway through this year – and he wasn’t doing so well with his health – and he passed away right in the thick of that lockdown stuff in Melbourne so it was compounded by some pretty frustrating times for Victoria and Australia. It was a shock and the least that we can do being musicians is put a song together, which we’ve done with Drew Dedman who was our former long time bass player. Drew kept in touch with Sean as best he could, along with Theron, our sound guy who is almost like another member of the band – and Theron has actually done the mastering for this song so it’s a collective tribute to Sean in the best way that we know how.”

To further commemorate Sean’s memory and help fans and loved ones share in his love through music, Norton stresses the point that “Seize The Day” is a free offering from Superheist that can be shared by all.
“We don’t want to be paid for this song,” he said. “We wanna give it to everybody to listen to and to have for Sean’s memory. There will be a free download link where people can get it, share it amongst their friends and do what they want with it.”

In the full interview DW talks about writing the song, the cathartic nature of it, what Sean brought to Superheist’s sound and his lasting musical legacy, Superheist’s new album, when it will be out and who has taken over vocal duties and more.
