SUICIDE FOR A KING Set To Corrupt With New EP

Share This:

Montreal metalcore outfit Suicide For A King are gearing up to drop their four track EP Corrupted Vision on July 30.

With a unique sound courtesy of the emo-esque punctuated by harsh and confronting vocals flowing from frontman Jay Rodriguez, Suicide For A King have produced a collection of songs that typifies the direction the band is heading while forcing you to take notice.

Rodriguez sat down with HEAVY during the week to discuss the new music.

“It’s a short EP,” he offered, “and it’s a fast EP. Youre gonna find a lot of variety in the songs. We’ve got two short songs and we’ve got two long songs – over 5 minutes – so I think you’re gonna be able to see that we can be really aggressive and fast but also that we can explore different things, especially for the last song that’s gonna come out. People are going to be able to see what we can do.”

The press release calls Corrupted Vision a darker album than previous releases, with Rodriguez nodding in agreement at the appraisal.

“I think with the image and the lyrics for the songs we wanted to make it a little conceptual,” he measured. “I know a couple of the songs talk about challenges over yourself and life so we wanted to present these things with the image of the album.”

In the full interview, Jay talks about each song and its meaning, his idea for the band when he joined in 2019, his vocals on the EP and how the contrast works, how difficult it is to perform two almost opposing vocal parts, the concepts and themes of the EP and how they relate to Suicide For A King and more.
