The revival of vinyl continues as Strapping Young Lad have their entire back catalogue re-pressed onto vinyl.
Blood Music, a Finnish non profit label who’s main purpose is the preservation of extreme metal, will bring out a box set in April of all 5 Strapping Young Lad albums plus 2 non album pressings with some extra ‘gifts’ thrown in that are exclusive to the box set.
For the Canadian extreme metallers, that have been responsible for damaging the ears of many metal fans in the 90’s, this will be the first time ever Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing, SYL and The New Black are to be released on vinyl. The bands other two albums, City and Alien were only ever pressed to a limited 500 copies back in the day.
The album covers were redesigned by respected metal artist Travis Smith who worked closely with band members Jed Simon and vocalist Devin Townsend. Smith has previously designed cover art for the bands releases along with albums for Opeth, Katatonia, Anathema, Soilwork, and Avenged Sevenfold to name a few.
Blood Music’s profits are distributed throughout Finland to musicians to set up workshops, recordings and music grants. Their first release was avant-garde Boston metal band Maudlin of The Well and this sold out within a month of its release. One can only imagine how quickly the SYL boxes will be snapped up.
Pre-orders will be available from the 17th of April.
