Montana rock band Stranded By Choice has released their fifth full-length LP. The album, titled Marooned In Stone, is out now and is their first original release since 2023. The album is also the first studio project to feature drummer Stefan Flores, whose bombastic yet technical style helps create a fresh new direction for the band. Marooned In Stone is fast and heavy for sure, but also leans into a dynamic and melodic sound that results in a more mature and refined Stranded By Choice.
“This is definitely the most musical album we’ve ever made,” says singer and bass player Rich Feeley. “We really took the time to develop the songs and work out a lot of details to make sure we were truly happy with every part of every tune. I spent a lot more time working out the lyrics on this one, and I think it really shows.
The album displays a blue-collar type of mysticism, with Feeley’s powerful voice guiding through themes like time, consciousness and the universe. “I wanted to get deep at points but not bog the album down with a bunch of rambling and cryptic nonsense. The challenge for me was to say what I wanted to say while still making it fun and listenable.”
