With music and festivals starting to sprook up around the country, it’s great to see that bands, promoters and punters alike are all ramping up their efforts and love for live music and driving it back into gear. Saturday, May 8th, Brisbane promoters Metal of Honor have put a huge mixed heavy lineup together for one mammoth day of riffs with a solid 13 bands playing from early afternoon right through till late.

Headling we have the mighty Black Rheno, a band that’s well known for putting on some pretty wild live shows, will be coming up from Sydney as a part of their “Battle Ready” single launch tour. It’s been 14 months in between gigs for these guys, and no doubt they’ll be busting out of their skins, ready to tear the crowd a new one.
Co-headlining, fellow Sydney crew, thrash masters Flaming Wrekage will also be making their way north as a part of their “Cathedral of Bones” Album launch tour. These guys have just released their third studio album, which received a considerable amount of attention and rave reviews across the board.
There’s a whole host of some of Brisbane’s most epic talent, and one we are especially excited about is the hardcore groove machine that is Massic. This will be Massic’s first weekend of shows since vocalist Simon Russell-White (Si) collapsed last December while running and experiencing an exploded aorta that required immediate and hazardous open-heart surgery. The initial prognosis was grim, but after 8 hours of open-heart surgery, Si defied medical opinion and thankfully pulled through. The metal gods were watching over Si that day for sure and we can’t wait to celebrate their return to the stage.
The onslaught of heavy Brisbane acts continues… Envirothrash mankini masters F.U.C, old school Brisbane death Laceration Mantra, sludge juggernaut RHINO, Gutterfire will be launching their new single “Eight”, local legends Symbolic Weapon, neck chomping thrash from Odius. The beautiful nightmare that is Terror Parade, north coast metallers Minds?End, Barrelhouse will be bringing their classy brutal tunes and kicking things off in style the groovy stoner vibes of Dr.Parallax.
With a massive blend of rock, stoner, death, grind, sludge, thrash and just big fuckin riffs, this one hell of a lineup is an event not to be missed. Ticket sales have been moving super fast over this last week, so you’d better get in quick sticks!
