Mass-Sky-Raid 2018

Sound the alarms because Gold Coast outfit Mass Sky Raid are back with a brand new album. While their recent single ‘Edge Of The Unknown’ was the first wave of the attack, August 3rd sees the full onslaught with the release of Science Of Fiction.

Amid getting everything ready for the launch and reflecting on recent tours with Dead Letter Circus, I Am Giant and Twelve Foot Ninja frontman Adam Lomas recently spoke to HEAVY Mag about what their fans can expect.

“We are super excited, we are about to get this album out there… well we will on August 3rd,” says Lomas. “We are so pumped to get it out there, our fans will finally get to have a listen and we can’t wait to see what they think… we have been working so hard behind the scenes. It’s been recorded over quite a bit of time, pretty much ever since our last EP we have been in the studios just working on a sound and progressing it, evolving it and just challenging ourselves. We’ve come up with new ideas and concepts and what you will see on the Science Of Fiction is just five years of hard work… and hopefully a progression from what you have heard from us in the past.

Lomas is also quick to admit that this is what you can describe as a very ‘deep’ album for them as well. “Yeah this album is very much challenging our own ideas and concepts,” he says explaining it carefully. “For more lyrically we just talked about our dreams and all the struggles and sacrifices and the feeling that of alienation that you get on that journey. But we just wanted to challenge the listener and put these ideas out there and explore the concept of chasing our dreams. Hopefully the listeners can get a lot from that. I think there a lot of positive messages in there, so it is great. Every musician is chasing their dreams, the music industry is a hard place to be in and I think it is every musicians dream to chase what they are passionate about, and that can be other things in life as well… it doesn’t have to be about music. It’s about finding out what that passion is in your life and just going for it really. It’s about finding that path and sometimes that can be different to what people expect you to do, so that was the concept that we explored, and there are different aspects to that, so I think it is a positive message. I hope people enjoy it and get something uplifting from it.”

Science Of Fiction is out on August 3rd. Launch show details are as below.
