“For the love of the riff” (as The Black Swamp always say) is also the reason Pete Saunders from Brisbane sludge metal outfit EvilEye claims he has been hosting this annual boat cruise show since 2018.

Showcasing some of Australia’s finest sludge, heavy rock and metal acts the event took a hiatus for obvious reasons in 2021 returning this year to once again add some sludge to the murky Brisbane River
waters.

“It’s been a tough time for events and venues and everyone else of course”, said Saunders. “With so many events being postponed o cancelled I think punters are a bit shy about getting out there and supporting events but now is really the time to bite the bullet and get out there and support local.”

This year’s event will showcase some of Brisbane and the Gold Coast’s finest. “In the past I’ve brought some great bands up from down South, but this year I really wanted to keep it local and also saw an opportunity to get a great new band on board that I’m guessing not many people would have had the opportunity to experience yet in The Wretched Creatures. They’re a great band and have a new single they’re about to launch in time for the show.”

Gold Coast legends The Black Swamp will lead the pack on this show, rounding out the night after some seriously rockin riffs from other locals Eat City and of course EvilEye themselves.

The event takes place on Sunday, May 1 (Labour Day long weekend) departing Southbank Parklands Ferry Terminal at 5pm.

Tickets are strictly limited and available now on Eventbrite
