SLEEPMAKESWAVES Release Metallica Tribute “To Live Is To Die”

On September the 5th an iconic moment in Heavy Metal history is the 30-year release date, of Metallica’s “…And Justice For All”. Today, sleepmakewaves dropped this epic rendtion of “To Live Is To Die”.

“It’s no secret that we are Metallica fanboys. Their ability to blend complex and developing compositions with ferocious riffs and compelling melody was a big part of the musical world we continue to be influenced by.

The most ambitious and technical album by far was ‘…And Justice For All’, released 30 years ago almost to the day in August 1989. As a tribute to the record Alex and Otto convinced Tim to do a sleepmakeswaves’ified cover of the album’s instrumental track ‘To Live Is To Die’. We tuned it down 5 steps, reconfigured some of the riffs and played with the structure slightly, but other wise our cover is a fairly faithful recreation of a track we love.

We hope you enjoy our little tribute to one of our all-time favourite metal records.” – smw

The release comes ahead of the band’s previously announced 10th anniversary tour of Australia this September and October.

Celebrating the 2008 release of their debut EP ‘in today, already walks tomorrow’ as well as ten years of touring, recording and releasing music, the band will feature founding member Jonathan ‘Kid’ Khor returning on guitar for these shows.

After September dates in Canberra, Newcastle and at Port Macquarie’s Wildwood Festival, the band will be joined in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in October by special guests all the way from Northern Ireland, And So I Watch You From Afar. It’s the first ever Australian tour for the Belfast band renowned for their boisterous live shows and the instrumental punk energy of ASIWYFA will make this one heck of an epic high-energy lineup.
