It’s not every day you read or hear of a band that was fully formed during a pandemic?
To give further context to what I’m building too here…. for those of you who may not know, Victoria, Australia has endured some of the toughest ‘lockdown laws’ on the planet with lengths of time with these laws in place reaching into the hundreds.
Though Get Rekt started to form in 2019 it took until 2021 for things to really kick off.
Formed and born out of isolation, with the constant enduring of normal life stopping and starting over and over is 5-piece heavy hitters Get Rekt from Geelong, Victoria.
Chatting with Nick (lead guitarist) and Stu (lead vocalist) saw us delve into how this band came to be, how their first three-track E.P. came together, and of course what the plan moving forward is for the quintet.
Excuse the amount of personal connections between Stuart and I, we were enjoying the fact that we were in a band together 21 years ago and now here we were discussing his band at length.
Their music is a type of hard-hitting metal that sits like a well-balanced bed frame, but rips through like a new saw blade. It has edge, it has attitude, and most of all, has conviction. But for more on that, check out the review of their debut E.P. over in the review section on the Heavy website.
