When it comes to having a robust and lasting legacy of professionalism in the Australian Heavy music community, there are few bands that can stand as tall as Segression. Forming in Wollongong in 1996, Segression forged a reputation as one of the nation’s hardest touring acts with super energetic live performances, consistently raising the bar with their material and releases, till they became the top-ranked act in the country’s heavy metal community in the early 2000’s and toured with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera and Slipknot.
With six successful albums to their name, including tracks like Fifth of the Fifth, Cage of Nails and Painted in Blood, which now hold anthem status in the metal scene, Segression are going to make this, their 30th anniversary, the year they show the broader heavy music community they still have plenty of raw power to boast about.
On May 5 they released The Best of Segression, an album that has a handful of covers, a dash of live material and some re-recordings of their classic tracks; the same awesome sound but with a fresh glaze and sharper cutting edge. With the initial overwhelming support, The Best of Segression shot to No. 2 on the iTunes metal charts. Soon after the release was available, their upcoming show in their home town of Wollongong promptly sold out!!
Now Segression have turned their attention interstate; they are bringing their focused, audio artillery to your town to give you an unapologetic lesson in aggression. Check out the posters below for a show near you…
