Naarm/Melbourne five-piece, screensaver share new wave, disco-tinged second single, Soft Touch lifted off their forthcoming third album, Three Lens Approach, out November 7 on Poison City Records. The band also announces supports for their 6-date East Coast headline tour, including a hometown launch at The Tote on November 15.
Emerging from a mammoth moog swell, Krystal Maynard’s hypnotic vocal performance lays atop driving bass, nostalgic synth lines, serpentine guitar and a moreish disco beat. Following themes laid out on their lead single, Context Is Everything released earlier this month, screensaver’s Krystal Maynard shares on the latest album cut, Soft Touch: “More and more we’re watching our governments take weak stances or no stance on huge issues: whether it’s the genocide in Gaza, establishing a meaningful emissions target or the rising violence against women in this country. Soft Touch is a relentless dance floor banger, that demands we, as a society, grow a backbone and stop being persuaded by the powers that be. Lives are at stake, temperatures rise, and we need to draw hard lines for change, yet often we’re content to sit on the fence, to be a push over – to be a ‘soft touch.’”
